3 Strategies to Avoid Gaining “Business Baby Weight”

In this article, you’ll learn 3 key ways entrepreneurs set themselves up to gain unwanted weight, and what you can do TODAY to prevent it. Even if you’re the CEO of your own business!

It’s surprising how often “business baby weight” comes up when I talk shop with other female entrepreneurs.

Let me explain…

You sit down at your desk to begin your workday and quickly get engrossed in your latest project.

At 9am, your gym class time comes and goes because you just don’t feel like breaking away from the project at hand.

Then noon also comes and goes and you keep working until hunger forces you into the kitchen. You rush to the fridge, grab the first available item (often also the least healthy) and head back to your desk.

This series of skipped workouts and dash-and-dine meals adds up over the months to a 10-pound weight gain and a slump in your energy level.

Suddenly, you’re not sleeping well and you feel a case of burn-out coming on.

Trust me, you’re not alone. This. Is. So. Common.

This is a symptom of our hustle-at-all-costs attitude. We put our businesses first and our own health ends up taking a backseat.

But what if you prioritized yourself… And then your business thrived because of it?

Would you be willing to implement a few simple healthy living strategies?

Why entrepreneurs gain business baby weight & how to Take Back Control

  1. They don’t take regular sanity breaks from the computer to make proper meals.

Your Strategy: make kitchen time your break time.

Break for lunch: chop some veggies, cook a healthy meal, or toss together a salad. You need to fuel your body and give your mind a breather to do your best work.

I give you permission. The time you put into your body IS time you’re putting into your business.

  1. They don’t book regular movement into their calendars.

Your Strategy: add workouts as a recurring appointment in your calendar.

Schedule workouts rather than leaving them to happen when you feel like it (you never will).

Even if you’re like me and hate routine, this is still crucial. Without specifying what time of day and which days of the week you do it, time will pass very fast between sessions until you’re only working out a few times a month.

  1. They act as if their business is more important than their health.

Your Strategy: keep your WHY top of mind.

Perhaps you eat clean to fuel the hustle to accomplish major projects. Or tons of fresh veggies and fruits to keep up the energy for public speaking. I lift weights because feeling strong gives me the confidence to play big with my business.

Even when you get caught up in a current project (especially then), don’t forget that you run a lifestyle business. Remind yourself of the type of lifestyle you want to create – simply doing that can be a game-changer for how you structure your day.

Now it’s your turn.

What strategy are you going to implement today?

Go ahead and share it in the comments because I want to know!
